Kia ora koutou

We continue to make good progress on site as we construct what is predicted to become New Zealand's busiest train station!

Over the next few months we have a number of events and engagement opportunities that all members of the Aotea Station local community are invited to.  Please see below and register where you can.  We look forward to welcoming you and your involvement.

If you have any questions please email aotea@linkalliance.co.nz or call 0800 CRL TALK (275 8255) and press option 3.

Ngā mihi,

The Aotea Station team

We love this photo of the latest round of concrete trucks lined up, all waiting patiently for their turn. These trucks were involved in a recent concrete pour of a section of the underground station's roof.

Te Pūkaki - our public information centre - is now open!

Te Pūkaki is our information centre and activation space situated near the Aotea Station construction site.

Within the information centre visitors can learn more about Aotea Station’s design, the history of this area, mana whenua involvement and the benefits of the City Rail Link project to Auckland. It also provides site-specific detail on upcoming construction milestones, such as Link Alliance’s tunnel boring machine Dame Whina Cooper, which will arrive at Aotea Station at the end of 2021.

Te Pūkaki will be open initially on weekdays from 11:00am – 1:00pm. The space is located near 24 Wellesley Street West, next to Mojo Café.

Aotea Station Community Liaison Group (CLG) meeting - all welcome

After a series of virtual CLG meetings in 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions, we have our fingers crossed our next one can go ahead in-person. All members of the community are welcome to attend, and refreshments will be available!

When:             4.00pm-5.30pm, Wednesday 17 February 2021

Where:            Aotea Station Site Office, Level 10, 44 Wellesley Street West

What:              The Community Liaison Group Meeting is an opportunity for you to hear directly from our specialists about construction progress, sustainability, development response, utilities relocations and more.  At this month's meeting, you'll hear more about upcoming construction milestones including the mid-2021 intersection closure switch and have an opportunity to feedback into the above-ground streetscape and urban realm works that we will undertake once the underground station has been built.

To register your attendance, please email us at aotea@linkalliance.co.nz

Victoria St / Albert St intersection closure:
share your views workshop

As part of our community engagement you are invited to attend a dedicated workshop regarding the vehicle closure of the Victoria St / Albert St intersection.

At the workshop we will cover in detail the nature of the closure, and listen to the ideas, questions and responses of businesses and residents around the impact of these upcoming works. The feedback will contribute to our plans to support affected stakeholders during the closure period (mid-2021 for approximately two years).

An independent facilitator will host this session, and the agenda will be shared ahead of time to attendees.

When: 4.00pm-5.30pm, Wednesday 3 March 2021
Where: Venue to be advised (will be near the Aotea Station site)

Please register your interest at aotea@linkalliance.co.nz

Proposed bus infrastructure improvements to enable Wellesley Street re-opening mid-2021

When Wellesley Street West re-opens in mid-2021, many bus routes will return to the area. To enable a successful transition, Auckland Transport is proposing some improvements to bus stop infrastructure in the area and some other parts of the city centre.

Details of the proposed changes are on the Auckland Transport website. We encourage you to review and provide any feedback - the engagement period is open until 19 February.

Proposed changes for implementation mid-2021. Visit the Auckland Transport website for more information.

Link Alliance virtual Community Liaison Group - sustainability and social outcomes focus

You are also invited to a special ‘virtual’ CLG meeting on the Link Alliance’s performance in sustainability and social outcomes for the City Rail Link project. This meeting will be held on the Microsoft Teams Live platform.

When:  5.00pm-6.30pm, Wednesday, 10 February

RSVP: Please note, this is a joint CLG where members of each of Link Alliance’s three CLGs are invited (Aotea, Karangahape, & Mt Eden). We’d appreciate it if you could RSVP to this email so we can gauge participation levels from the Aotea community.

This meeting will cover performance in our social outcomes and sustainability practices and will give you the opportunity to share your feedback.

Members from our Social Outcomes and Sustainability teams will present information about our objectives and performance in 2020, as well as challenges we faced. We will also share information on our Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating. Members of our Social Outcomes and Sustainability teams will be available to answer your questions. Your feedback will be valuable in helping us plan the year ahead.

Aotea Station public site tours

Aotea Station's public site tours started off in 2021 with great demand.  We are hosting these monthly, held on the first Thursday of each calendar month.

Come and hear from our engineers and enjoy a walk around site to hear about the work we are currently completing and what construction methods we are using to build the Aotea Station part of the City Rail Link.

The attendee numbers are restricted to 30 people to ensure you get a great experience.  Click here to view upcoming dates and register to attend.

The first site tour of 2021 was extremely popular, hosted by one of our Project Engineers, Patrick Gibbs.
