Work has started on construction of the first of the two rail tunnel boxes to be built under the heritage-listed Chief Post Office (CPO) building in lower Queen Street.

The break-out of the southern tunnel under Commercial Bay

Lower Queen Street trench: The break-out into the northern tunnel under Commercial Bay. We have also commenced the construction of the concrete LQS northern tunnel.

Northern tunnel beneath the CPO building: rebar installation for next floor slab concrete pour. Both tunnels are being constructed in five sections inside the building. This will be the second section to be poured

Looking out from inside northern tunnel. Excavation in LQS is now approx. 13m deep.

Southern tunnel beneath the CPO building: setting up for waterproofing to start next week. This is in preparation for new concrete tunnel floor construction.
