Jeffie the micro-tunnel boring machine about to embark on on her sea journey from France to Auckland. It'll be used in Mt Eden to divert a section of the existing Mt Eden stormwater pipe which in the path of the new CRL tunnels that will be built there.

It’s traditional when a new project starts for a small shrine to Santa Barbara to be set up at the tunnel, followed by a dedication and an invocation to Santa Barbara for protection of the workers.

Statuette of St Barbara, the patron saint of miners and tunnellers is carried by MBJV tunnel supervisor Laurent LeCalvez down the CRL shaft at Mt Eden where tunnel boring machine Jeffie will be used to help divert a section of the existing Mt Eden stormwater pipe, which will be in the way of the CRL tunnel.
