Welcome to 2021!
We hope you and your families have kept safe and well during the festivities. During the holiday season, our crew have continued working across Mt Eden Station so critical work in the rail corridor could be completed while the train network was not running. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our neighbours who continued to support the project during this time.
Coming up this year, we have some exciting work taking place on site. Currently the team are busy preparing for Dame Whina Cooper our Tunnel Boring Machine to start her first drive at the end of April. This preparatory work includes moving the TBM cutterhead and gantries to the tunnel portal from mid-February so the pieces can be connected together ahead of the drive. Once the TBM begins its journey to the new Aotea Station, the construction team will continue to focus on building the cut and cover tunnels that will connect the tunnels to the existing western line.
Other notable activities coming up include, building the start of the new North Auckland Line platform and the construction of the Porters Ave pedestrian bridge.
As always, we encourage you to email us at mteden@linkalliance.co.nz or call 0800 CRL TALK (275 8255) then press 5 if you have any questions or concerns about our work.

During the holiday season, the Mt Eden construction site continued to work through the Christmas and New Year breaks to complete important work within the rail corridor. With the line temporarily closed to trains, it made it safer for us to work in and around the rail corridor and complete a lot of our necessary work.
Nick Adams, North Auckland Line Deputy Construction Manager for the Link Alliance extends his thanks for all the people living and working near the Mt Eden construction site for their support.
“We do our very best to control disruption like noise and dust and we extend our sincerest thanks to our neighbours for their patience. Their support is important to us, and one big plus for getting so much done this month means future extensive work like this will not have to happen so often.”
The holiday season work programme included track changes to prepare for the CRL connection, relocating utilities, building retaining walls and new drains, piling and associated activities, and work related to new bridges. Elsewhere at the Mt Eden site, work continued on mining the first 51 metres of the CRL to accommodate the TBM.
The extensive holiday period of work will end this Sunday 31 January, after which trains will resume across the Auckland network.
