Faces of the CRL: Alexis Hunter

Delivering the country’s largest infrastructure project takes some seriously talented people, so in this section “Faces of the CRL” we talk to some of City Rail Link’s best and brightest. This month we turn the spotlight City Rail Link’s office magician Alexis Hunter.

Name:  Alexis Terese Hunter.

Age: Old enough to know better but young enough to do it anyway.

Suburb: Howick.

How long have you been working with CRL?  It will be 1 year on 2 August 2020.

What is your role?  I am the EA to our CEO, Payroll Officer and Office Manager – yes really!

How do you do it? Usually with great planning and on occasion, going with the flow.

What do you enjoy most about your job? My CEO, my team and making them feel happy and supported.

Most challenging part? Hmmmm, those darn teaspoons in the sink!!

Previous jobs? I was born in Scotland but moved to South Africa with my family in 1972. I started at Eskom, South Africa’s largest electricity utility provider. I developed educational programmes and led tour groups to the nuclear, coal fired and hydro water plants – it was great fun! I think it was here that I developed my passion for great customer service. From there I studied English and communications at university and completed a public relations diploma to round off my portfolio. From there I moved to coaching and umpiring netball in Johannesburg where my children were students. I continued with netball when I moved to New Zealand 2006, then I moved on to executive assistant rolls, and now, here I am!

Hobbies?  I am a passionate cricket fan, love music, crime shows and movies and spending time with my family and friends.

What are you looking forward to most about when the CRL is complete? Standing back and observing what we have achieved as a team, but I shall be very sad when it is over! Hopefully by then I shall be a very proud Grandma!
