Salvaged and recycled wood

When life gives you demolition waste – make planter boxes. Okay, we know that’s not exactly how the adage goes, but that’s how a crew from our Link Alliance partners see it.

Taofi Taulelangi and Timi Fisilau spent some of their spare time making planter boxes from salvaged wood at the Mercury Lane site – where demolition started in early November.

Each planter box one took approximately one morning to make and was fabricated from old floor boards.

Not only does the upcycling fit within the Link Alliance’s ambitious recycling and sustainability scheme, it was also a creative way of giving back to the local community.

The boxes have been gifted to the Karangahape Business Association in Beresford Square, where demolition will start in early 2020.
