Te Komititanga tree surrounds
People frequenting Te Komititanga might notice new fencing surrounding the square’s resident pohutukawa trees. These simple-but-stylish barriers replaced the former wooden surrounds and are more in keeping with the standards for this premier public space.
The fencing in part is to prevent tripping over the supporting ‘strops’ at the base of each tree. The trees will need support for another two years or so while their root systems become established. These supports and fencing are temporary and will stay until the trees have matured and no longer need protection from high winds.
