Safety on site
Though Covid-19 level 4 does not allow us to work, we still inspect the site daily, checking the boundary and traffic management set ups. Our staff doing these walkovers will also keep an eye on our neighbours and local businesses.
However, if you notice anything suspicious please make sure your first point of call is the police on 111 for emergencies and 105 for non-emergencies.
We do have CCTV surrounding the site so should it be needed for any vandalism or unruly behaviour that’s been reported, we can supply it directly to the police to aid with investigations.
Also, please note cleaning carried out by the council is an essential service during Covid-19 level 4. Should you notice an increase in litter in the area please log it with the council via their website - www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/report-problem/Pages/report-a-problem.aspx. Though the response may take longer to deal with, it is always good to log the issue.

Sustainable initiatives
Click on the image above to learn about the sustainability initiatives at Karangahape Station and how working with Envirocon, the Link Alliance helps divert concrete from landfill to repurpose it on site with precast concrete products.
Our Mercury Lane Section Engineer Eva Brosius, Beresford Square Project Engineer Emmanuel Chatoux along with the project’s Principal Sustainability Advisor Nick Braxton discuss the importance of removing the traditional linear approach of using and disposing of concrete and how instead it is repurposed across the project and the consideration of our carbon footprint.

Meet Michael Coup, Senior Project Engineer for Beresford Square
Where did you grow up?
I was born in the mighty Northland (Whangarei) before moving when I was small to Rotovegas and then up to Auckland where I did most of my schooling, we moved when my dad changed job locations and projects, he is also an engineer.
Where were you working prior to this?
My previous project was on SH16 upgrading the motorway between Lincoln Rd and Westgate for NZTA.
What do you do when you are not working?
I have three small kids (aged 1, 3 and 5 years) who take up most of my spare time between swimming, gymnastics and taking them places, I manage to play a bit of golf, hockey and try and get out on the water as well as spending time with my friends.
Any fun facts about yourself you want to share?
My second toe is bigger than my big toe, so that is a sign of genius, right?!?!? Other than that, a few years ago my wife and I spent time in Mongolia building houses for Habitat for Humanity and travelling around afterwards. Finally, my nickname in our hockey team is “The Honey Bear”…

Supporting the Arts - Monster Valley Membership
Lockdown is a tough time for every business, especially those that rely on events. This month, as part of our business focus section we would like to make note of Monster Valley and the role they play in the community by supporting the arts.
Monster Valley is a social enterprise that supports alternative and emerging artists through various initiatives, spaces, commercial collaborations and an online shop.
Located at 74 Karangahape Road, they recently celebrated their 10th anniversary. For over a decade, their profits have gone back into providing the spaces, platforms and opportunities for creative communities to thrive.
To enable this to continue they have set up a membership platform. There are different tiers, but each have the same wonderful benefits – including supporting local creatives. Details here: www.monstervalley.co.nz/membership
