Flying the flag for Mates in Construction
City Rail Link proudly flew the Mates in Construction flag in September to show support for a campaign aimed at improving mental health outcomes among building industry workers.
Mates in Construction is an organisation combating suicide among New Zealand and Australian construction workers.
More than 200 construction sites across New Zealand flew special flags in the week starting 7 September to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September.
The cause aligns with CRL’s vision for health and safety: ‘Mahia te mahi, hei painga hei oranga mo tātou katoa’ – to do the work for the good of everyone.
Health and Safety Manager Rob Mair said, “as a project we take the mental health and wellbeing of our workforce just a seriously as the physical aspect, and flying the Mate flags shows our dedication to this cause.”
