Targeted Hardship Fund
City Rail Link (CRL) and project Sponsors are pleased to announce the creation of a $12 million hardship fund to help impacted CRL neighbours.
The Targeted Hardship Fund (the Fund) was announced in early September 2021 by project Sponsors – Auckland Council and the NZ Government.
This fund was created to support small businesses experiencing genuine hardship from major and sustained CRL construction disruption surrounding the Aotea, Karangahape and Mt Eden Station sites (within the C3 Affected Area).
In line with high-level guidance provided by project Sponsors, the Fund will be managed by CRL Ltd, using an external agency for administration purposes.
While detailed eligibility and assessment criteria for the Fund is finalised, businesses are able, and have been applying for an Advance Interim Payment under the Fund.
These Advance Interim Payments provide timely financial help for businesses which are likely to qualify for the Fund and are currently experiencing genuine hardship as a result of major CRL construction disruption.
“These payments will provide some financial assistance for these businesses while eligibility and assessment criteria for the Fund itself is finalised,” says CRL Ltd’s Chief Executive, Dr Sean Sweeney.
